A few of my Favourite Things...

Inspired by a few posts last month by Twitter mummies... and I hope these inspire yours!

Lincoln's Smelly Feet.
Tickling his Neck.
His Laugh.
His Manners.
Hearing him say "ub oooo!" ("love you")
His Obsession with Elephants.
Seeing his face when I start to play songs he knows on the Piano.
Just him.

Fresh Bedding.
The Smell of Clean Washing.
The Smell of my Perfumes (not used much lately).

That 'after the Gym' feeling.

The first and last cup of Tea of the day.

Waking up at 12am knowing you still have at least a few more hours sleep.

The heating inside when it's frosty outside.
The same old Christmas songs.
The smell of cheap Christmas wrapping paper.
My mum's Christmas stuffing.
Her trifle.
Still seeing my 31 year old Red Stocking filled when we arrive there.
Seeing faces I love open gifts that make them happy.
The run up to Christmas.
That Feeling of Christmas.

These are only a few of my favourite things...

What's yours?

Celebrity Mammy and Proud Mummy

Date :- 10th November 2010
Destination :- Chester Zoo
Purpose :- to meet up with fellow Twitter mummy @Mammywoo

Frantically trying to get ready this morning to leave the house at 10.30am didn't start very well at all.

8.48am - Lincoln trips and falls over. Head into the shoes near my wardrobe.
8.52am - Lincoln trips and falls over. Head onto the side of the bath.
8.54am - Lincoln trips and falls over. Side of his face into the doorframe. Owch.

Oh dear. Tears are streaming (him) and mostly due to the fact he can't actually quite believe he has fallen over again and again. Then, he is extremely excited and lifted when the word "Elephant" is mentioned.

In the world of Lincoln. This is the magic word.

And with a promise of actually seeing live elephants today, he immediately said "car".

ME :- "Lincoln shall we go to the Zoo today to see the Elephants?"
L :- "ETH PTH!" (yes please).

ME :- "Let's put our coats on"
L :- "CAR!"

ME :- "after we've put our coats and shoes on, okay?"
L :- "OKKIE" (ok)

L :-"MAMA?"
ME :- "Yes Lincoln?"
L :- ..........................."CAR!"

ME :- "Linc.......... mummy is very proud of you"

Ok. In the car, quick Sainsburys stop for Apple rice cakes and gingerbread men biscuits, and we're on our way to meet Mammy and woo in Chester zoo!

I have a confession. I was excited about the thought of meeting mammy. But also, strangely, a little overwhelmed. Is it just me, or does anyone else get the feeling that, if you ever were to meet one of your followers/someone who you follow (who is a favourite), it would kinda feel like you are meeting a celebrity in a strange type of way?

This is how i felt. Like she (Mammy) was a secret celebrity that didn't know her appreciation or worth? or even that she was famous? but in the world of Twitter, our favourites (and let's face it, we all have favourites who make us laugh, lift us up, are there to chat to and are generally loopy or as nutty as we are) are in fact up on a bit of a Twitter pedestal. Like it or not.

When i walked in to the Ark Restaurant, I spied woo's Quinny pram directly in front of me to the left and remembered a post about Mammy's pram previously, so I knew it was her and woo. I looked to the left and immediately got a hug and a warm smile, with a little woo eating his weight in carrot and all manner of other yummy things.

So meeting Mammy was a daunting thought, and I hoped I would be somewhat normal so she wouldn't run away from sometimes loony tunes "Me". Not sure I can say that I am entirely normal at any one time, but yeah...

she didn't
and she's lovely
and woo's lovely
and people were nosey
but she told them
which is even more admirable
and she didn't mind L's obsessive Elephant visits (there were a lot)
and is a funny, lovely person.

Thanks for today lovely mammy, you restored my faith in keeping promises when I have had nothing but let downs in the past. ;o)

Mummy can i go to the toilet?

Lincoln amazed me today. Since when did society demand that we all grow up in the fastest possible time?

Linc is 15 months. And wanting to potty train. Eh? but no hang on, my mum (aka Dot) told me that he would probably be about 2 and a half before needing/wanting to be potty trained.

But not this forward thinking baby. He used to tell us when he had "gone". Today, he gestured and held his nappy as if to say, I'm gonna go in a minute and don't leave me in it a minute longer than I need to be!

So DH took Lincoln upstairs to change his nappy as we both thought he would have gone already. Instead, he gestured towards the bathroom and the toilet! Clever baby. If anyone asks you, Mummy taught you.

DH sat him on the toilet, L thought it was far too cold for all that malarkey and got stage fright. But then we found an "attempt" on the way back to the changing table!

Here mummy goes looking for a potty for my genius 15 month old baby who knows what he should do already.

But he is still a baby.

And mummy is so proud of you!

Where abouts do you live?

If I had a pound for the amount of times I have been asked this question especially over the past 2 days, I would be able to buy.... a pair of jeans. Ok, the expensive kind, not like a £12 pair from Asda more like some Se7en For All Mankind. Always wanted some of those....

DH?

Ok focus.

Anyway, I talked and networked with that many people during the 2 day North Wales Baby Show in Llandudno I seriously can't move. My Stomach has reminded me I have some muscles unused. Thanks body of mine. I can run and run and pump quite heavy weights in the gym but standing for 2 days and talking to people? and i'm not just talking a bit achy...

I am full on.

feeling like.

I'm going through.

a 2. Day. Hangover.

hmmmm.... might be feeling my age today. Which incidentally is 21 (+10). And seriously feels like I was partying, dancing, drinking and stumbling on cobbles. Yes shut up I have done all 3 copious amounts of times with proof (photos). Not for the last 8 years though. I told you I was not a spring chicken.

But the highlight of the Baby Show was seeing all the PG mummies and tiny tiny newborn babies. How dare they... making me broody and wanting seventybillion more babies. I posted on fb that I REALLY wanted a Stokke Pram for my next baby after seeing 3 gorgeous ones at the show and that was it. Messages flooded my inbox -

"OMG - are you Pregnant! Congrats! xx"

erm... I bloody WISH! nope I am bloody not. booo! :o( and can't til the business takes off. major boo. Had to quash that rumour.

Still want the Pram though. You know, for future use. :-D

Top and bottom of it....

- I am shattered

- I want a Stokke Pram

- I want seventybillion babies

- I talked to seventybillion mummies. All lovely.

- I over booked some classes. (oops)

- I blogged! (for the 3rd total time).

Progress!

I really should have blogged about little Lilly's 1st Birthday which was totally out of this world organised, colourful, character filled and unbelievably HOT!.... Lincoln (who is not great in a car unless it is his nap time) coped really well considering we woke him at 4am Saturday and spent the next 5 hours traveling to Surrey, and did exactly the same thing the next morning to come home to Wales. 10 hours in a car for a baby who is wriggly and on the go all the time = not good. But actually he did brilliantly... especially when we took a pit stop at a service station and bought him the biggest cuddly toy dog ever. We REALLY weren't leaving without it once he saw it. And I sacrificed a box of Krispy Kremes to get it (only had a tenner on me and yes the dog was a flippin' tenner!). But, that was way too long ago now and my short term memory is rubbish lately... well actually ever since I became pregnant with Lincoln! I think the Baby brain stayed with me.

So..... Lincoln was sat up in the cot at 6am the other morning when we walked in to get him. It looked really strange because he is 1 and yes he can walk really well with fingers and for a while by himself before we save him from yet another fall :-/ but he STILL refuses to crawl properly (he commando crawls), or even really truly pull himself up properly. He CAN do it that's the annoying thing, he is SO like his daddy and just wants it either black or white... either I sit up, or i don't. I aint doin' this trying malarky. (lol) So the sitting up waiting in his cot action he did is SUCH progress that we took a picture. I know. So I am really hopeful when I go in every morning that I will be greeted with the same efforts from Lincoln... but alas. I know it will come and people tell me that I will regret it when he can actually get from A to B totally without my help, but it's GOT to be better than the current "bad back" situation of holding my finger everywhere. Majorly cute when I look down and he is actually gripped so tightly around my finger that he fears what will happen if he were to let go... hmmm... well he let go today. It wasn't his best idea. He let go and tried running at the same time. A disaster. What do you think will happen when a baby with very grippy Clarks shoes lets go and rushes away? Face. Flat. On. The. Floor. Major boo boo. Oh and EVERYBODY knows about it when it happens. If he was with me when it happened, he runs to Daddy and points at Mummy, and if he was with Daddy when it happened, he wants Mummy and Points at Daddy with evil looks. How did this 1 year old become so bloody clever? I honestly think he has an experienced brain. He listens to something once. ONCE. And doesn't forget it. EVER! I think we really should be careful what vocabulary we use now around him. He baby signs a lot of things but also says a lot of words. Not FULL words, but part of them etc. He amazes me. Baby's brains are just sponges and I am glad that from day 1 we have explained EVERYTHING and taught him as we go. We are DEFINITELY seeing the rewards now as he knows probably more than some people i know he he!

My lovely husband has just reminded me about my cuppa and chocolate so that's all for now.

The Birthday Boy

At 9.48am this morning, Lincoln was exactly 1 year old. It's crazy how so much has happened over the past year and yet it feels like only yesterday I held him for the first time. This time last year, he was being dressed in Newborn size clothes, and this morning I dressed him in a T shirt I had made on Ebay in a size 18 months. Incase you're wondering, it says "I am 1 Today" on the front and "Lincoln" on the back.

As most nutty parents do, we put balloons and banners everywhere and it seriously looked like Christmas this morning when we brought Lincoln downstairs! There were so many presents... and at first he only wanted the £5 black and white football (football mad) but didn't want to kick it... oh no... he wanted daddy (Allen) to hold him whilst daddy did lots of tricks and flips with the ball. What this baby needs is a jester. :-) Anyway, after the ball came the giant Police Car. I think we have found his new pushchair because he refused to leave this car and wanted to be pushed around the house all the live long day in it.

So as Lincoln napped, we got the house ready for his mini Party at 4pm. Only family came, so we had a little Toy Story cake and a special VERY Chocolatey Cup Cake just for Lincoln to devour. He ate the whole thing. That's mummy's boy! But BEFORE the cake he actually ate.... about 5 cocktail sausages, half a boiled egg, corned beef and pickle sandwiches, ham and coleslaw sandwiches and prawn cracker crisps! He. Loved. It.

Allen and I took Lincoln up to bath, book and bed at 6pm and he was SO ready for it. I noticed tonight whilst reading to him that he looks at me on the same places and on the same pages. We do Baby Signing too, so as I am reading "Sleepy Baby" I read the last page that says "It's time to say night night sleepy baby.... sleep tight" and do the sleep/bed/tired sign. Lincoln copied me. but not in a way that he was telling me HE was tired, he was telling me that he understood what the book said. Clever Lincoln. And when I read "All About My Day" and get to the "when I was a baby I love to eat.. this is me having a yummy snack" part, I always do the food/eat sign. He finds it hilarious. Funny Lincoln :-)

So.... here I am writing this first blog entry and am shattered. I am trying to upload all the photos to facebook at the same time which is taking bloody AGES! We're off to Surrey next weekend for Lincoln's girlfriend's birthday. She is DEFINITELY his girlfriend. No one else will ever be good enough ;-) Anyway, Lilly is 1 on the 13th of July (they were born 10 days apart... awwwww). Next Blog entry will probably be after the visit to Surrey and the "Alice in Wonderland" themed party! (YAY!!)
